''The Blue Rose of Texas'' is country music artist Holly Dunn's fourth album, and the first with the Warner Bros. Records label. With this album, she achieved her first number 1 Billboard country single, "Are You Ever Gonna Love Me". Another major hit from the album was the number 4 track, "There Goes My Heart Again". Dolly Parton lends supporting vocals on her own "Most of All, Why," and Joe Diffie provides backing vocals on "There Goes My Heart Again."
